Being enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) as a military family often means you’re jumping through extra hoops and hurdles on a daily basis. It can be stressful and exhausting. Finding the right care and support to help is critical to survive. Just ask Marla Bautista.
Bautista first met her husband while working at a hotel, and they were married just 30 days later. Fast forward 13 years, and they are now an active-duty family with three kids. They have faced multiple moves, deployments, and separations for trainings. Their oldest son was diagnosed with autism, and Marla found that her son faces challenges related to his condition, but also discrimination due to the color of his skin. Despite these obstacles, the Bautistas are unwavering in their determination to provide the best for their family.
